Business Administration Guidebook for MSME Owners and Youth

August 2020

This Business Administration Guidebook is meant to fill the learning needs of owners of MSMEs, Afghan youth, and private citizens in learning the fundamentals of effectively administering businesses. The BA Guidebook is developed such that it provides background knowledge as well as practical guidelines, tools, and examples through ten distinct chapters.

Effective administration of companies in Afghanistan has a strong positive impact on their ability to survive and grow beyond a certain size, thus contributing to the Afghan economy’s ability to sustain jobs and create additional opportunities for its young population.

To better understand the business administration functions among Afghan companies, the GIZ TVET Program commissioned a research that Innovian carried out with 505 MSMEs in Kabul. The findings of the study indicated a differentiation in the way companies of various sizes use, adopt, and consider business administration functions. The research also found strong demand for further training in business administration.

Innovian developed the Business Administration Guidebook to enable MSME owners, female and male young Afghans, and TVET students to learn the needed skills to manage these businesses better. The BA Guidebook is developed such that it provides background knowledge as well as practical guidelines, tools, and examples through ten distinct subjects including:
